Multicultural Futures is a dynamic, charitable organisation that gets results. Founded in 1981, we’ve built decades of experience, working in partnership with government and other service providers to support migrants and refugees as they build a new life in Australia.
Previously known as Fremantle Multicultural Centre, we changed our name to better reflect our societal impact across Western Australia, a continued focus on providing quality support to multicultural communities, and our broader interest of driving systemic change; forging a thriving and vibrant multicultural future for everyone.

Alec has over 25 years experience in the community sector in management and senior management roles. In the past 8 years, Alec has managed migrant and refugee services, working at MF developing, collaborative partnerships with government, non-government agencies and consumers in homelessness, settlement and engagement and transition support, (SETS), and cultural responsiveness education and training.

A strategic thinker with a research doctorate in business and community partnerships, Dr Helen Grzyb is an Australian Institute of Company Directors Graduate, Fellow and award winner, with over 30 years governance experience as a board member of professional, government, business and community organisations.
Board member since 2014, Board secretary from 2024.
Roseanne has many years’ commercial and manufacturing experience in Chief Finance Officer roles with workforces largely made up of people whose first language is not English. Since retirement she has taken on several Board roles in the areas of women’s services and domestic violence.

A lawyer with experience primarily in criminal law, as well as IHL and taxation. Kevin has tutored and lectured in university courses, as well developing training and education programs for prosecutorial and anti-corruption organisations.
Kevin presided over the Mental Health Court (Start) Court and was closely involved in obtaining funding for that court.
Kevin has also worked for the United Nations, based in Sierra Leonne, as a Lead Trial Attorney.
Kamel has over 20 years of professional experience in engineering and technology roles, solving complex business and technical problems across diverse industries including engineering, consultancy, resource management, and not- for-profit.
In 2014, he arrived in Australia from Egypt with his young family on a skilled migrant visa as he holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Kamel is currently a final year student of Master of Business Administration, and he became a trainee board member of Multicultural Futures in 2020, the same year he graduated from the YoungGems entrepreneurship program sponsored by the City of Canning and Multicultural futures. Kamel seeks to add positive value to the board and the wider community through his experiences in entrepreneurship, process improvement, innovation management, and evidence-based decision-making.
Tim is Associate Director, Student Services & Engagement at the University of Western Australia. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) and Bachelor of Marketing and the Media. Strongly values focussed, he brings expertise in tender and grant preparation, grant reporting and compliance, as well as in mentoring programs, industry partnerships and experiential activities.
He has worked with diverse communities, particularly international students, in higher education for 19 years. Previously Tim worked in training, workforce, and social policy research primarily with regional, remote and underrepresented communities, and development of workforce and career guides. Tim has also been a volunteer for other community groups and fundraised particularly for refugees.
Currently Jaideep works as an investment banker in the energy and resources industry, where he advises and arranges financing for ASX listed companies. After growing up in India he migrated to Australia on a temporary visa in September 2016. Working firstly part time/casual in the retail industry he then completed a Master of Applied Finance (Curtin University) as an international student.
Jaideep brings to the board recent lived experience as a young migrant, and knowledge of corporate strategy, finance, and investment analysis.
Ivy works in the resources industry, advising national and international companies. She holds the degree of B App Sc Geology, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). She brings to Multicultural Futures her curiosity, knowledge of multicultural services developed over 5 years on the board, governance experience, as well as knowledge of the Australian Corporations Act and of WA and Federal government systems.
After migrating to Australia in her youth, Ivy is well-respected resources adviser and has developed a suite of board roles including Football West, Football Futures Foundation, AusIMM WA volunteer and office bearer for 23 years, and a AusIMM national board member 2019-2021. Additionally, Ivy has volunteered for more than ten years in conservation, sea rescue and her local APEX club.
