World Music Café featuring Grace Barbé Akoustik, Rob Zielinski, Ani Santos and Felipe Cairello, plus chef Nimrod Kazoom, Friday 5 November 2021

World Music Café presents another outstanding ‘Dinner and Show’ combination of quality culturally diverse artists featuring Grace Barbé, Rob Zielinski, Uruguayan duo Ani Santos and Felipe Cairello, plus chef Nimrod Kazoom on Friday 5 November 2021 at the Camelot Theatre in Mosman Park.

Performing as Grace Barbé Akoustik, with long-time musical collaborator Jamie Searle, this multi-award-winning team will reveal a softer acoustic repertoire influenced by Grace’s vibrant Seychelles heritage. Experience the lilting rhythms of the Indian ocean, the laments of slaves, the stories of the Kreol fishermen and their wives, and the bustle of the island markets. Winner of nine WAM awards and nominated for the national ARIA awards, Grace Barbé is a genuine local music industry icon that should not be missed in the intimate World Music Café setting.

Rob Zielinski is ‘simply one of the best Celtic musicians in Australia’ (Doug Spencer, former ABC Radio National). Of Polish heritage, Rob started playing fiddle at 8 years old in Perth and at 17 he moved to Country Clare on the west coast of Ireland to spent 14 years studying Irish fiddle technique. He later won Ireland’s Michael Coleman Traditional Fiddle Player of the Year award and taught at the Galway School of Traditional Irish Music. He has released albums of rare Country Clare fiddle tunes and is renowned for his exquisite tone and subtle dexterity. He recently returned to WA, having been touring throughout New Zealand over the past year, and his World Music Café duo performance sees Rob reconnect with Perth audiences.

Uruguayan duo, Ani Santos and Felipe Cairello have been sharing their contemporary and folkloric music throughout Australia for the past two years. After meeting at a Montevideo music school, the adventurous couple have travelled across world bringing their joy to many diverse audiences.  As part of the new World Music Cafe Collaborations project, Ani and Felipe will perform an exciting set of Uruguayan music.

Nimrod Kazoom is the master chef mentor for the World Music Cafe kitchen team and brings his creative food fusion where tradition meets innovation to the plentiful World Music Cafe dinner banquet. He trained and worked in Tel Aviv before relocating the Fremantle several years ago and has since built a massive following for his stunning artistic cuisine.

World Music Café is a collaborative social enterprise celebration of Perth’s vibrant multi-dimensional culture, developed by Multicultural Futures with community partner United in Diversity, and assisted by venue partner MosArts, and philanthropic partner, the Scanlon Foundation. Given most WMC shows sell out, patrons are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
