Funded by the Department of Home Affairs, the ‘inspire me®’ Digital Literacy Course for Employability Skills has been designed to address digital literacy barriers for humanitarian entrants and other vulnerable migrants in their first five years in Australia.

The ‘inspire me®’ Digital Literacy Course for Employability Skills has been designed to address digital literacy barriers for humanitarian entrants and other vulnerable migrants in their first five years in Australia.

Gaining meaningful work is important, but it can be difficult getting that first job or making the move into your dream profession. Digital Literacy is an essential life skill for everyday life.  Our experience in teaching digital literacy to newly arrived migrants and refugees will build the skills, experience and confidence to do so.

Computer classes are delivered in a small group, using lesson plans. These lesson plans orient the participant in using a computer and using Microsoft Word. Lessons support learning and skills development in:

  • mouse and keyboard skills
  • typing skills
  • formatting skills
  • creating word documents including your resume.

The course also supports internet skills, with some of the activities designed to assist with living in Australia, employability skills and employment seeking, with education on short and long-term career goals.
