Children in Homelessness

Funded by the Department of Communities the Children in Homelessness program assists children up to 16 years of age from a non-English speaking background, who, with their families, are living in supported accommodation as a result of having experienced homelessness.

The service aims to give children the chance to build confidence, resiliency, and competence in their daily lives and to engage with their local school and educational opportunities.

Along with educational supports, the children in the service are assisted to access social, sporting and community opportunities and some therapeutic supports. The service aims to work with families to create a supportive home environment, addressing children’s specific needs, and promoting resilience to improve the emotional, social, and behavioural well-being of the children in the service.

We accept referrals from supported, transitional accommodation programs who support children and families from a migrant and refugee background.
